Ian purchased Promised Land in 2012 and revitalised the former horse stud with the infrastructure needed to turn the fertile land into a premium Angus breeding stud. Next, the team established a herd of strong foundation females as the basis of our world-class seedstock operation.
The Oatley family is driven by their philosophy to deliver excellence in everything. This philosophy is represented by the two concentric circles symbol which adorns all Oatley family products from wine and olive oil to stud cattle and Thoroughbred breeding and racing, and of course yachting.
Alister Dieckmann has lived and worked on beef cattle farms since he was a child growing up on his parents’ Santa Gertrudis operation in Queensland’s Darling Downs. He has built extensive experience in overseer and manager roles for top stud and commercial operations including Billabong Droughtmaster and Brahman Stud in Moura, Wagyu Cattle Company in Roma, Jilrift in Cunninghams Gap.
Alister runs the day-to-day operations at Promised Land, overseeing everything from cattle management to pasture development and staff coordination. Alister is driven by his goal to achieve excellence in sustainable pasture management and genetic herd advancement through artificial insemination and embryo transfer.
Alister lives on the farm with his wife and family who are enjoying life in the idyllic Gleniffer Valley, especially with its proximity to the beautiful Mid North Coast beaches. Since moving to Promised Land, Alister has loved getting involved in the local community through volunteer firefighting and surf lifesaving.
Grace Weick grew up locally in Gordonville on her family’s Charolais and Angus-cross farm. She’s always wanted to work with animals, preferably in an outdoor, hands-on role. After completing her degree at the University of New England, Grace came to Promised Land where she helps Alister with daily cattle work, pasture care, general maintenance and show preparation.
Grace is enjoying putting her academic learning into practice at Promised Land and hopes to increase her practical skills while helping deliver the level of excellence that Promised Land is known for. She loves being part of selecting the best cattle to breed top-line animals for herd improvement.
Grace combines youthful energy with a maturity of knowledge and experience. She’s always ready to have a chat and talk about cattle breeding or anything to do with animals in general. Grace loves the variety of her work at Promised Land and says she has the best office in the world.
